21st Century Schools

A 21st Century School should prepare students to live and work in a competitive global society. In past centuries the emphasis of schools was on reading, writing, and math. While these core subjects are still important, the method of teaching students should be changed so that students develop thinking skills and remember important material instead of just memorizing certain facts. In a 21st Century School, students will perform, develop projects, learn and assess self and each other which are skills that are needed in a global work force. Programs will be research based and will provide students with a great deal of freedom as they collaborate with their classmates and other global classrooms. With the teacher becoming a facilitator instead of the source of all information, students will become motivated and more interested in the core subjects which ultimately will lead to less or no discipline issues.
